2007-2008 Contests and Scholarships: The contests are designed to promote History and Heritage through Reading and the Visual Arts.   Students attending school in the San Antonio area in grades 6 through 12 are invited to enter either the Essay Contest or the Visual Art Contest.

Winners of the 2007-2008 Essay Contest will receive a $1,000 Scholarship provided by the Alamo Community College District. Students may attend the community college of their choice.  Seven scholarships will be given for grades 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

The University of Incarnate Word will also award seven $1,000 Scholarships to the same grades to the winners of the Visual Arts Contest.

Dates for the Contests have been changed to correspond to the normal school year for 2007-2008.  This change will give students more time to research and prepare their entries.

New rules (and entry forms) for the Essay Contest and the Visual Arts Contest are now on-line.  To allow time for students to prepare contest entries within the 2007-2008 school year, the deadline for both contests is February 29, 2008. This will give students and teachers ample time to prepare entries.
