Celebration 2009: The sixth annual San Antonio Founders Day TM, is Saturday, October 24, 2009.  Each October, our city celebrates its growth and development as a community from the 1700s until the present.

The opening musical tribute is 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at The Alamo.   This musical tribute will  highlight and celebrate the founding of San Antonio.  San Antonio's own, Sonny Melendrez, is hosting the program.   Featured on the program will be the Trinity University Chamber Singers, under the direction of conductor, Dr. Gary Seighman.  Winners of the 2008-2009 scholarship contests will be recognized.

An afternoon of historical and cultural exhibits, musical and dance performances, historical reenactments and fun activities for kids of all ages are planned for the grounds of The Alamo and Alamo Plaza.  Activities are scheduled for 11:30 - 4:30 p.m.  All events are free and open to the public.

As in prior years, a Volksmarch is scheduled in conjunction with the event.  More information is available here.
