Explorers' Hide-Away
El Escondite de los Exploradores

Something very special for young people took place Saturday October 20, 2007, Founders Day! A fun area was set aside under the ancient oaks for youngsters and their families to learn more about the culture and heritage of San Antonio. Several activities took place in the Family Area, or EXPLORERS' HIDE-AWAY.
Children of all ages, picked up Pasaportes, then enjoyed exploring the History Trail to find the answers to the questions listed for each of the history stations.
Before leaving each history station, that particular page was stamped. When all the blanks had been filled and pages had spiral stamps, the explorers returned to the Explorers’ Hide-Away and received a reward! Pasaportes were then be stamped with the official Founders Day stamp, and all those who finished received a special, hand made medallion to wear like a necklace.
In addition to the pasaportes, other fun activities took place at the Explorers’ Hide-Away.
Families enjoyed the day while gaining some new insights into their heritage and culture. Learning can be fun. You are the proof!

Young artists will paint familiar San Antonio landmarks, wildflowers, and several other faniciful boards. Others children will learn how to fold paper into intersting items...all symbols of San Pedro Springs Park.
Learning about
history, this young man completes his personal Pasaporte, and gets it stamped
at several locations around the park. He then turns in his Pasaporte and earns his Founders Day Medallion to wear around his neck.
